About HomeJobCalc

HomeJobCalc is an independent website that helps people work out how much material they need for home and yard projects. The goal is simple: give you a clear number you can take to the store, along with enough explanation to check it.

How the calculators work

Each calculator uses standard geometry and common material sizes, such as 27 cubic feet in a cubic yard and 100 square feet in a roofing square. Where a figure is a rule of thumb rather than an exact value, such as the weight of gravel or the number of screws per sheet of drywall, the page says so. Every page includes a worked example that matches the default values in the calculator.

What the calculators cannot do

They cannot see your site. Soil conditions, local building codes, product differences and unusual shapes all affect a real project. Treat the result as a planning estimate and confirm the quantity with your supplier or a qualified contractor.

Corrections and suggestions

If you find a mistake or want a calculator we do not have yet, please write to contact@homejobcalc.com. Corrections are checked and fixed as quickly as possible.

How the site is funded

The calculators are free to use. The site may display advertising to cover its costs. Advertising does not influence the formulas or the guidance on the pages.
