Why estimates matter
Ordering too little means a second delivery fee and, with some materials, a color or batch that no longer matches. Ordering too much means paying for material you cannot return. A good estimate lands in between, and it starts with accurate measurements and the right waste allowance for the job.
Every calculator here shows its working in plain language, includes a worked example, and lists the assumptions it makes, so you can check the result against your own figures.
How to get a reliable number
- Measure the space twice and write the numbers down.
- Split irregular areas into rectangles and circles, then add them.
- Keep the waste allowance. Cuts, breakage and uneven ground are normal.
- Check the size, coverage or weight on the product you will actually buy.
- Confirm the final quantity with your supplier before you order.
